GO ORANGE-Hunger Action Month

Go Orange Food Drive

September is National Hunger Action Month, an opportunity for people across the nation to stand together to end hunger.
To kick-off Hunger Action Month, Mayor Franco has proclaimed Friday, September 15, 2023 as the 10th Annual GO ORANGE DAY for Hunger Action in Bloomingdale. Participation in GO ORANGE DAY continues to increase each year throughout the community. https://www.villageofbloomingdale.org/.../Go-Orange-Day...
Starting this Friday, September 1st, the Hunger Action Food Drive will begin in Bloomingdale (locations are listed below), to benefit the Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry. In addition to those items listed on the attached flier, the Bloomingdale Township noted that these items are also on their most requested: Egg Noodles, Mac n Cheese, Ramen Noodles, Jelly, School Snacks, Knorr Side Dishes, Crackers, Jiffy Box Mixes, Mashed Potatoes and Stuffing.  All non-perishable items are appreciated!
The Village urges everyone to join in to Take Action Against Hunger, by:
• Dropping off non-perishable food and diapers during the month of September at Bloomingdale Village Hall (201 S Bloomingdale Rd), Bloomingdale Public Library (101 Fairfield Way), Bloomingdale Fire Protection District #1 Fire Department (179 S Bloomingdale Rd) or Bloomingdale Park District JRC (172 S Circle Ave). (Donations accepted year-round at the Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry)
• Volunteering at a local food pantry, collecting and/or delivering food to those in need.
• Wearing Orange to Work or School on GO ORANGE DAY to raise awareness.
• Encouraging conversation about hunger with friends, family and coworkers, and on Social Media.
• Donating to the Northern Illinois Food Bank (every $1 provides $8 worth of food).
If you have any questions, please email Jennifer at sassanoj@vil.bloomingdale.il.us.
Thank you for rallying to assist those in need!
