Center for Entrepreneurship

The College of DuPage (COD) Center for Entrepreneurship is committed to the small business community with programming and promotion of entrepreneurial activities through varied programs, customized advising and high-quality training. There are three grant funded core programs within the center that help individuals to start businesses, grow businesses, access government contracting opportunities and/or sell their products into overseas markets.  A summary and link to each service program is provided below.  To view a calendar of upcoming training opportunities, click here. 
Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) 
Entrepreneurs and small business owners can obtain the needed advising in management, marketing, financial and operations. The SBDC offers FREE one-on-one advising and a variety of workshops to help your business thrive. Training and advising is available for new and existing businesses. SBDC advising and resources for clients include

  • Financial analysis/checkup
  • Management assessment
  • Development marketing plan
  • Identify potential funding options
  • Business Plan analysis

Illinois International Trade Center (ITC) 
The ITC provides expert advice to help local businesses sell their products and services into overseas markets. ITC advising services for clients include:

  • Market research for potential global markets
  • Assist in identifying international competitors
  • Guide in finding new or additional distribution channels
  • Assess export readiness
  • Determine if a company is ready to export products or services
  • Identify and vet international customers, competitors, and supply chains
  • Assist and review global payment and  shipping strategies
  • Country and cultural guidance

Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) 
The PTAC assists local companies understanding how to navigate the maze of governmental contracting. Services provided by the PTAC include:

  • Customized/computerized bid lead opportunity matching system
  • Certification assistance (HUB Zone, (MBE, WBE, DBE, (SD) VOSB, 8(a)
  • Proposal prep assistance and review
  • Market research
  • Procurement history reports
