The Bloomingdale Police Department is encouraging all senior citizens to contact our agency to participate in the Street Smart Seniors Program. Anyone 55 years or older is invited to attend presentations by the police department regarding various topics targeted for the senior population.
The program educates the participants in the various aspects of police work and personal safety issues to include the following:
Police Department Policies and Procedures
Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse
Diversionary Thefts (Cons and Scams)
Gang and Drug Awareness
Nutrition and Fitness
Personal Safety Procedures
The sessions allow members of the Police Department, village personnel, and senior citizens of the community to meet, share ideas and information, and to interact in a very positive and proactive setting.
The Street Smart Seniors Program is generally scheduled in the spring and fall months of the year. The series of presentations and discussions will be held on Wednesday mornings, approximately one 4-hour session per month.
Presentations will be held at various convenient locations within the community. Please contact Officer Dawn Odoi at 630-529-9868 for more information.
