Water Reclamation Facility - Phase 2A Construction Improvements
Phase 2A Improvements were completed in 2012, and began the second phase of four phases of improvements recommended in the Village's Facility Plan Amendment. The total project cost was approximately $6.1 million and was financed through a low interest loan from Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
About Phase 2A
Phase 2A work included installation of high efficiency turbo blowers to improve air distribution and efficiency; mechanical screening equipment upstream of a new larger dry weather flow pumps; expansion to the existing odor control system; and related electrical, mechanical and demolition work.
Construction Team
The construction was completed by Maxim Construction Corporation Inc., from Volo, IL.
About the Current Water Flow
The facility currently process peak flows 8.625 million gallons per day (mgd) with an excess (wet weather) flow capacity of 15.1 million gallons per day (mgd). The facility is operated pursuant to a National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements. The improvements will enable the facility to continue to comply with provisions of the NPDES permit.
