Coverage Area
The District employs a combination of career and paid-on-call (volunteer) personnel. The district covers approximately 15 square miles and serves over 40,000 residents. Communities protected include the Villages of Bloomingdale, and portions of Addison,Glendale Heights,Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, and unincorporated DuPage County
There are
Automatic Aid Agreements with several surrounding communities to provide additional manpower and equipment should the need arise.
Firefighter Training
Most of the career firefighters are cross-trained as firefighters and emergency medical technicians (paramedics and EMT-B's). Firefighters are trained in fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, rescue, and other ancillary activities.
Responsibilities
The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts inspections of commercial, industrial, and multi-family buildings within the district. In addition to these inspections, plans are reviewed for new construction.
Other responsibilities involve reviewing tenant space remodeling plans, and fire alarm and sprinkler drawings.
